Ama-gi. The first recorded written word of History. It means “freedom” in ancient Sumerian, used in the sense of manumission of slaves or return of persons and properties to their original condition. The word comes from the root “ama”, mother, and literally means “return to the mother”. It expresses reminiscences of the society prior to patriarchy or hierarchical civilization, a matrifocal community and collaborative society.
